Our title investigation "The Application of Conceptual Maps and the academic perfonnance in Mathematic TI. Case: General Studies of the university of San Martin de Porres" which had as aim, to determine the. academic performance of the course of mathematics II, according to the education by the traditional method and according to the
application of conceptual maps in the students of general courses of the university of San Martin de Porres by the following methodology: by means of a study almost experimental, which sought to demonstrate the effect that produces the use of conceptual maps in the education of the course of mathematics, doing a comparison therefore of two methods of education. Control Group: 82 students with method of traditional education and a Cases Group: 82 students with method of education using the conceptual maps; where the academic performance ofboth groups were evaluated in a longitudinal way,by means ofthe continuous assessment, which means; qualified practices, modular exam and a final exam.
The results showed that the method of education with conceptual maps improves the academic performance of the student body (Average = 13.35), opposite to the traditional method (Average = 11.23) and that has better effects in men (Average= 13.7) that in
women (Average= 13.0). Concluding hereby: that on having begun the subject of the mathematical II (group control and experimental group ), had an average of notes (Average= 2.5) and on having fmished the development of the subject, the final average of notes (Average= 13.35), showed a sígnificant difference between the group that applied to itself the use of conceptual maps opposite to the group that contínued with the traditional methodology.
